Service providers are eagerly making plans for their next Carrier Ethernet speed upgrades and a few have even made some limited deployments of pre-standard 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s equipment. Other carriers have been waiting for standards to be finalized, and with the recent ratification of the IEEE 802.3ba standard, they need not wait much longer.
