USGv6 Testing Program

The UNH-IOL is the only North American laboratory offering ISO/IEC 17025 accredited testing designed specifically for the USGv6 Test Program. The test program designated by NIST provides proof of compliance to IPv6 specifications outlined in current industry standards for common network products. It is meant as a strategic planning guide for USG (United States Government) IT acquisitions to help ensure the completeness, correctness, interoperability and security so as to protect USG investments in the technology. Please click on the USGv6 Tested Device List to view a complete product registry of devices. To learn more about the evolution and key milestones of the USGv6 Certification Program, review our timeline graphic.

The specific test procedures executed is dependent on the feature availability of the device under test. For a specific list of procedures that will be performed on your device, please contact the IPv6 Testing Manager.

USGv6 & IPv6 Ready Logo Testing Process

Additional Details Per Step:

Step 1: An annual membership allows you to receive testing for several IPv6 test programs including USGv6 and IPv6 Ready Logo. As a member, you can  schedule multiple test slots throughout the year using a first-come-first-serve model. These slots can be used to test the same product multiple times or multiple unique devices.

  • A pay-per-test will give you access to a single test slot (no-reruns).
  • The fees are based on product type and test specifications selected. As a non-profit neutral test facility, we charge all customers the same fees.

Step 2: IOL INTACT Software will allow you to pre-test the Conformance side of the testing using the same software we use for official testing at the lab. Interoperability and functional testing is performed in the lab during your test slot. Pre-testing is highly recommended. IOL INTACT license are offered to members at a discount.

Step 3: One test slot can be used to test a single device. Multiple test specifications can be scheduled during a test slot  All testing must be executed on the same version of firmware. Firmware cannot be updated once testing has begun. Members can schedule 1 upcoming test slot per membership.

Step 4: Physical products must be shipped to the UNH-IOL. Please include all necessary hardware (i.e. power cables, modules etc.). VMs must be compatible with ESXi 7.

Step 5: Testing time varies depending on what is schedule and other factors such as number of failures that need to be documented. On average, testing slots are in the 6-8 week range.

Step 6: Reports will be delivered via the myIOL site.

Step 7a: USGv6 and IPv6 Ready Logo have different requirements. Listing details will be requested based on test program eligibility.

Step 7b:  A full rerun of all the testing must be performed. A new test slot is required.

Completing an SDOC

In order to fulfill procurement requirements for USGv6, you will need to fill out a SDOC (Suppliers Declaration of Conformity) and submit this document including traceability of your USGv6 test results to a federal agency. The UNH-IOL will help guide you through these steps and will address any questions that may arise. Contact Us with questions.
