Profile: Mara Johnson

Mara is the Communications and Brand Manager at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) and began working here in Sept. 2015. Her role is to oversee all the internal and external communications for the lab. That includes all things digital and print while encompassing the overall IOL strategic objectives and driving branding and awareness efforts. Mara is also responsible for recruiting new student employees to help fill the pipeline of future engineers. As the event liaison for the lab, she also coordinates both industry, student, and internal events. Recently, she enhanced her passion with events by becoming a Certified Event Planner (CEP). In addition, Mara coordinates the annual summer high school internship, HighTech Bound, where students from across the country work in the lab on a summer long project.

She brings over 10 years of experience in B2C & B2B marketing strategies and prior to working at the IOL she was the Product & Marketing Manager at Irving Energy where she created campaigns for product & service marketing which including digital, community involvement, event & print marketing.

Mara Graduated in 2006 from the University of Southern Maine with a bachelor's degree in Communication. She also enhanced her experiences with an independent study at a full service marketing agency in Portland, ME which worked primarily with Maine non-profit organizations.
