Pilot Program Open to the Ethernet Alliance Gen-2 Contributors

The UNH-InterOperability Lab is the exclusive 3rd party test house for the Ethernet Alliance (EA) Power over Ethernet (PoE) Certification Program. The PoE Certification Program aims to assure interoperability of products based on IEEE Std 802.3™-2018 PoE standards. Passing products are eligible for listing on the Ethernet Alliance Certified Product Registry. PoE technology grants the ability to deliver power over data communications cabling for IP networks. The Ethernet Alliance is currently developing the Gen-2 PoE Certification Program, which includes an updated test plan for IEEE 802.3bt PSEs and PDs products. 802.3bt specifies new power classes for up to 71 Watts of power delivered to the PD.  By getting your PoE Products EA Certified, your product can utilize the EA PoE Certification Logo to assure consumers of interoperability and distinguish it from proprietary PoE solutions.

We are looking forward to leading a Pilot Program this February which is open to the Ethernet Alliance Gen-2 Contributors Group. The Gen-2 Contributors Group consists of those participating in the development of the Gen-2 Test Plan. If your company is interested in attending, you are encouraged to apply for Ethernet Alliance and the Gen-2 Contributors Group membership no later than January 31, 2019. If curious about becoming a part of the Ethernet Alliance Gen-2 Contributors Group please visit the Ethernet Alliance website for more information.

The PoE Testing Service is available through the UNH-IOL website. In addition, audit memberships are available for Ethernet Alliance members to become approved for first party testing. The UNH-IOL will also be providing verification testing for Test Equipment manufacturers who wish to be approved for 1st party testing services. View our PoE Testing Services page for more information.
