Location: University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab (UNH-IOL) – Durham, NH
PCIe SSD Testing can be done remotely or in person.
NVMe over Fabrics testing will require in-person attendance to build out large fabrics between members.
Testing Requirements
To support large-scale NVMe over Fabrics testing, participants should be prepared to provide:
- 3+ Network Switches
- 3+ Host Platforms
- 3+ Target Platforms
If minimum participation is not met, standard NVMe-oF compliance testing will proceed without the large build.
Event Schedule
Week 1: June 15–19: NVMe PCIe SSD Testing
Protocols & Features:
- NVMe over PCIe®
- New: Configurable Device Personality, Power Limit Configuration, Self Reported Drive Power
- Zoned Namespace (ZNS)
- NVMe-MI™ (Management Interface)
Week 2: June 22–26: NVMe over Fabrics Testing
Protocols: NVMe-oF™ (RDMA, TCP, FC)
Testing Focus:
- NEW: Tests for automated discovery and centralized discovery
- Host and Target device interoperability
- Fabric controller behavior tests
Pre-Event Webinar: Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM EDT
Join us for a participant webinar covering:
- Plugfest logistics, registration tips, and testing flow
- Key updates to NVMe Test Suites
- Technical discussion on Configurable Device Personality
- Registration Link: [To be announced – stay tuned]
What's New in Plugfest #25
Configurable Device Personality
Industry-first validation of CDP. These tests will verify a controller’s ability to transition between distinct personalities, altering I/O profiles and security settings, while maintaining data integrity and architectural stability.
Power Limit Configuration
Tests that focus on the host's ability to throttle or expand the power envelope of the device via the Set Features command. Testing the enforcement of Power State (PS) transitions and the device’s adherence to defined Watt caps.
Self-Reported Drive Power
Accurate telemetry is critical for data center thermal management. These tests cover how the drive communicates its actual consumption. Evaluating the accuracy of the Get Log Page (specifically the Device Self-Test or Smart/Health Information) regarding instantaneous and composite power consumption.
Updated Test Suites
- NVM Command Set Conformance v24.0
- NVMe PCIe Transport Conformance v24.0
- NVMe-MI Conformance v24.0
- NVMe RDMA Transport Conformance v24.0
- NVMe TCP Transport Conformance v24.0
Registration & Participation
All companies must register devices ahead of the event. Two devices are allowed per company, and a waiting list will be available if more devices are requested. To participate, an active NVMe membership is required. It is recommended each device pass pre-screening before testing begins.
