Communications Assistant

The UNH InterOperability Lab (UNH-IOL) has been working with companies world-wide testing networking and communications products since 1988. We are currently looking for a communications assistant to help with day-to-day operations ranging from social media content, digital marketing, event logistics, photography, and more. This position is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in learning more about the marketing and communications field while working in a real-world environment. This is a year-round, non-benefited position which is part-time during the school year and full-time during breaks. 

Under general direction, you will be responsible for:

  • Drafting & posting content for the IOL social media platforms including sharing & commenting
  • Identifying opportunities to reach students for job recruitment (including events)
  • Reviewing and assembling materials for internal and external communications, including email outreach, e-newsletters, flyers, etc.
  • General support for organizing marketing materials, project calendars, event logistics, staffing, administrative duties
  • Taking photos/video footage of products and at events (will provide training)
  • Using Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator (will provide training)

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications or Advertising)
  • Available to work 12 - 20 hours/week during semester
  • Available to work 30-40 hours/week during Summer, Winter, Spring break
  • Must have computer skills (working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills (please apply if you enjoy writing!)

Typical Starting Rate: $12.00-$14.00+/hr based on experience. **We offer frequent raise opportunities! Earn up to $27.10/hr.
