Communications Assistant

This is a part-time hourly position, without benefits, at the UNH InterOperability Lab. The UNH InterOperability Lab (UNH-IOL) has been testing Networking and Communications since 1988. Fully owned by the University of New Hampshire, the lab receives 100% of its funding from commercial companies in exchange for professional and testing services. The availability of the position is contingent upon funding. UNH-IOL seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist with our marketing and communications efforts. This position will be working directly with the Communications coordinator and is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for a well-known organization.

Under general direction, you will be responsible for:

  • Drafting content for the UNH-IOL social media (SM) platforms
  • Posting and sharing relevant information on UNH-IOL SM
  • Tracking and monitoring SM pages for opportunities and results
  • Reviewing and assembling materials and collateral used for internal and external communication including email campaigns, newsletters, flyers, etc.
  • General support including but not limited to organizing marketing materials, event logistics and staffing, various administrative duties
  • Managing various project calendars
  • Reviewing press releases and various technical publications for UNH-IOL brand consistency

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications or Advertising)
  • Available to work 12 - 20 hours/week during semester
  • Available to work 30-40 hours/week during Summer, Winter, Spring break
  • Must have computer skills (working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills (please apply if you enjoy writing!)
