100VG-AnyLANThe 100VG-AnyLAN Consortium was formed in June of 1994. The consortium focused on testing MAC, RMAC, PHY, and operational aspects of the IEEE 802.12 specification, including extensive testing and investigation of Demand Priority. In addition to hosting its own Group Test Periods, the consortium participated in 100VG-AnyLAN technology demonstrations at NetWorld+Interop and the VGnet'95 event in San Francisco. Many Companies participated in testing 100VG-AnyLAN at the UNH-IOL, such as
Having lost the battle for 100Mbps networking to the less complex, less expensive Fast Ethernet (IEEE 802.3u) technologies, the 100VG-AnyLAN consortium became a testing service in 1997. Lack of demand for testing brought about its closure in 1998. Please contact us if you have any questions about this or any other consortium or technology. |
