The FCS is used by a receiving station to verify that the frame traversed the network without incurring any bit errors. The FCS in generated by the station that sourced the frame using the bits of the FC, DA, SA, INFO, and FCS fields. The FCS is generated such that should any of the bits in those fields be altered, then the receiving station will notice that there is a problem and will discard the frame.
