Overview

Reach Rate action shot
Note: The UNH-IOL does not distribute this software.
LASI (pronounced "Lazy") is a robust, extensive automation suite developed by the UNH-IOL DSL Consortium. This software incorporates our DSLAM test bed, Line Simulators, Waveform Generators, and Traffic Analyzers.

In addition to repeatable, precise testing, LASI enables testing outside of the lab's normal operating hours.

Features

Precision and Repeatability

Computerized data acquisition provides identical testing conditions; no matter when or how many times a device is tested, the results will remain constant. This precision affords regression testing of new hardware and firmware versions by revealing any changes in the device's connectivity.

Automation of vendor-defined testing

In addition to performing our Reach vs. Rate Interoperability Test Suite, the Reach Rate automation is capable of running complete tests on any set of loops or waveforms, allowing a high volume of testing under a vendor-supplied test plan. We support a full range of DSLAM profile options, noise cases, simulated loops, and timing of the test algorithm.

Expanding support

As new devices (DSLAMs, Line Simulators, Traffic Generator/Analyzers, and Impairment Generators) are added to our test bed, they are incorporated into LASI.

We strongly encourage vendors to provide remote management capabilities for their devices. Adding device support to LASI increases both the efficiency of our testing and the exposure of that device to members who request testing. If you are a member or donating vendor and wish to have your device automated, please email the LASI project leader.
