Event Description

Third Party Validation and Technical Feedback

Build the 10Gig Market Place

Demo Opportunities for SC07 and Event Whitepaper

This year's 10Gig Tech Summit will focus on creating a heterogeneous 10Gig data center environment capable of running applications typically used in commercial data centers. It will also demonstrate interoperability not only between devices but also between various Ethernet based data, clustering, and storage systems.

For additional information, please contact Kristin Harris at kharris@iol.unh.edu.

Participating Companies

(40+ Participating Companies) ADC, Agilent, Anue, Broadcom, CA, Centec Networks, Chelsio, Clariphy, Dell, Extreme, Foundry, Force10, Fujitsu, Fulcrummicro, Gigamon, HP, Huawei, Intel, Mellanox, Methode, Molex, Napatech, NetEffect, Neterion, Network Critical, NetXen, Nortel, Panduit, Phyworks, Realtek, ServerEngines, Shenick, Solarflare, Solarwinds, Spirent, Sun, Teak Technologies, Tehuti Networks, Teranetics, Tyco, Woven Systems, and Xilinx

Why Participate?

Third-party Validation
  • Create a heterogeneous 10Gig data center environment capable of running applications such as Oracle or Windows on CCE.
  • Demonstrate interoperability and the ability to handle applications on individual adapters as well as running them simultaneously on a single unified Ethernet fabric
  • Validate that end-users can create a 10Gb Ethernet environment with confidence that there will be device and technology compatibility from multiple vendors
  • Showcase benefits of emerging Ethernet technologies: iWarp, LRM, 10GBASE-T
Build the 10Gig Marketplace
  • Test device interoperability/conformance for specific technologies with well-documented test plans implemented and run by the UNH-IOL.
  • Bring together industry players in a neutral environment to focus on creating a larger market for 10Gig
  • Potential press and customer "showcase day," pending interest from participating companies
  • Develop Whitepaper for SC07
  • Live demo capabilities at SC07

Technology Spotlight

In addition to establishing a complex, heterogeneous data center environment and testing interoperability between different technologies, the 10Gig Tech Summit will feature specific conformance and interoperability testing scenarios for the following technologies:
  • Full range of 10Gig ports, including 10GBASE-T and LRM
  • 10Gig NICs
  • 10Gig Interconnects
  • iWarp Systems
  • iSCSI targets and initiators
  • Storage devices
  • Switches
  • Real-time applications (VoIP)
  • Applications (potential examples include financial, healthcare, Orbitz, Amazon.com, etc.)

Event Planning Committee

The UNH-IOL is looking for members who like to give their input into the event and help publicize it in the industry. If you or your company would like to actively participate in planning the first annual 10Gig Tech Summit, you are invited to join our first .steering committee call,. scheduled for Thursday August 16, 2007 at 2:00pm ET. For more information and bridge details, please contact Kristin Harris at kharris@iol.unh.edu.

Test Plan

The UNH-IOL will be conducting tests from Application layer to Physcial layer interoperability the week of the summit. The proposed test plan is outlined on the link below, and will be growing and evolving in the days ahead based on vendor interest and input. In addition to UNH-IOL run testing, participants are welcome and encouraged to pursue their own ad-hoc testing with other participants. **Updated 2:56pmEDT**: Download 10Gig Tech Summit Test Plan here.
Edits and further clarifications will be added as needed. NOTE, no significant test changes are planned. Vendor-driven adhoc testing of an interoperability nature is welcome and encouraged by and between any willing participants. UNH-IOL will be providing private, confidential, technical reports of test results to the individual participants from tests detailed in the Test Plan only. Some tests may not be performed due to lack of interest/participation or time constraints of the event.
